Woven over 14 days on a traditional pit loom, this Kanjeevaram silk carries a geometric vocabulary passed through four generations. The double ikat technique creates patterns visible on both sides—a marker of exceptional craftsmanship. Temple border motifs feature intricate peacock and lotus designs rendered in pure zari thread.
Lakshmi comes from a family of silk weavers dating back to 1847. She learned the double ikat technique from her grandmother at age 12. Each of her sarees takes 12–16 days to complete on her family's century-old pit loom.
